Tesi, a company of the Gpi Group, leads BILGAI (Blood Innovative Logistic, Government and AI system), a Research and Development project that aims to innovate the management of the blood supply chain through artificial intelligence, IoT sensor technologies and advanced traceability systems.
The initiative, co-funded by Regione Lombardia under the FESR 2021-2027 “Collabora & Innova” programme, brings together Antares Vision Group, Komete and CSMT. Together, the partners will develop a platform that advances the traceability and monitoring technologies currently in use.
The goal is to introduce predictive-analysis tools based on machine learning to anticipate demand for blood components and optimise logistics. The project also plans the integration of IoT sensors for continuous monitoring of blood bags and geo-referenced dashboards for stock management.
These innovations can deliver tangible benefits in terms of efficiency and continuity of care for a system that in Italy comprises 1.7 million donors, 2.8 million transfusions per year and 639,000 patients.
