The Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM) in Prague, Czech Republic, has automated its pharmacy logistics through the implementation of the RIEDL Phasys robotic picking system. This technological integration aims to enhance precision, storage efficiency, and traceability in medication distribution across the facility.
The project supports IKEM’s operational workflows, aligning medication storage and dispensing processes with high standards of healthcare quality and patient safety.
The RIEDL Phasys configuration deployed at IKEM features a U-shaped automated picking structure equipped with two independent gripping arms. Designed to optimize facility footprint, the system provides a high-density storage capacity of approximately 23,000 medication packages.
The project was executed in collaboration with local partner PROFITUBE. The RIEDL Phasys platform integrates with IKEM’s existing hospital IT architecture to ensure reliable data alignment between pharmacy stock management and clinical distribution points.
IKEM is a leading medical research and transplantation center in Central Europe. The institution operates 312 beds (including 83 intensive care beds) and employs approximately 1,450 healthcare professionals across three specialized centers, eight departments, and 15 divisions.
Historical Context: In 2019, IKEM performed 540 organ transplants for 486 patients
